Victor 20840 is mountain gospel classic. When Ralph Peer came to Bristol, Tennessee to record what would become the first country music recordings, Alfred Karnes was one of the those premier singers. These are great songs.

Let Me Rise The Singing Cookes. This great family of singers from Kingsport, Tennessee is still actively touring the Southland. The are among the finest mountain-style gospel singing families of all time. This selection was taken from one of their late-1990s CDs and presented here to introduce them to a wider audience.
